James Patrick Harte Jr.

James Patrick Harte, Jr., 56, died Monday, May 31, 2004 in Candler Hospital. The native and lifelong resident of Savannah started his education at Blessed Sacrament Catholic School, graduated from Benedictine Military School, in 1965 and also graduated from Armstrong State College and did his Master's of Business Administration coursework at Georgia Southern University/Savannah State University. He attended St. John Yianney Minor Seminary and was a communicant of St. Michael's Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister, Lay Lector and taught RCIA classes. He was past president of St. James Parish Council 1992-1994, served on the Leadership Savannah 1990- 1992 Interfaith Hospitality Network 1995-1996 and Team Quality Management-Chatham Board of Assessors 1995-1997. He was a teacher St. Michael's School, Benedictine and St. James Catholic School. He was a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee and Leadership Savannah. He served as a referee and umpire with the Coastal Football Association, Savannah Basketball Association and the Greater Savannah Area Umpire's Association. His parents James P. and Veronica Harte, Sr preceded him in death. He is survived by sons, James Patrick Harte, III, Charlotte, NC and Christopher Joseph Harte, Richmond Hill; brother and sister-in-law, Hugh and Marsha Harte, Buford, GA; sisters, Jane Harte and Ann Harte, both of Savannah; uncle, Eugene Kearney, Atlanta; aunt, Mary Jo Long, Savannah; granddaughter, Makayla Harte; grandson, Michael Harte; niece, Sara Harte, Buford, GA; 4 nephews, Jonathan and Simon Harte, Buford, GA and John and Steven Delong, Savannah. Visitation: 6:00 - 9:00 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2004 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rosary Service: 7:00 PM Wednesday, June 2, 2004 in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Funeral Mass: 11:00 AM Thursday, June 3, in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with Father P. James Costigan and Father Jeremiah McCarthy offic iating. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Harte, Simon Harte, Charles "Chuck" Davis, John Delong, Steve Delong, and Jim McCusker. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery.
